Once satisfied with the A-delta fiber protocol and analysis, which uses the patient as his own control and, therefore, is independent of age, race and gender, an independent evaluation was needed. Luckily, I soon met Randall Cork, MD, PhD, Director of the Louisiana State University, Shreveport Pain Management Center, while attending a medical conference in San Diego, California. Dr Cork showed interest and agreed to my conditions for a demonstration. I would blind test several patients that it had taken at least 2 months for the LSU Pain Center to determine the nerve root causing the patient’s pain. I assured Dr. Cork that I could blind test such patients and locate the injured nerve root in 15 minutes. Dr. Cork took me up on my challenge and found eight patients fitting my criteria. I flew to LSU and the F-NCS correctly identifying the injured nerve root of all patients. Impressed, Dr. Corks soon began a study and by 2002 it was published in a peer-reviewed journal showing 94.6% sensitivity locating and quantifying radiculopathic lesions.
